Today was Election Day. I didn’t vote. I’m ashamed. I hope my high school social studies teacher doesn’t ever read this post. I remember back in the most recent presidential election, I was so excited about voting, so well informed. Now, nothing. I wouldn’t say that it’s apathy so much, but with my lack of knowledge on the various candidates and propositions, I’d feel like I was randomly guessing and that’s just dumb. Also, the prospect of driving all the way across town to my voting district wasn’t exactly appealing. I know I could have done the whole absentee ballot thing, but I forgot. I’m sad.
On the bright side, I did cast my proverbial vote today for EXCELLENT DRINK VALUES. Yes, that’s right folks. The good folks at Quicktrip have been so kind as to provide me free drinks for the next 90 days. That’s right, as a promotion for the grand opening of a local service station, they gave away free cups and there’s free refills on those cups for the next three months. Needless to say, we go there about two times a day for delicious beverages. Our apartment cup total: 19. Oh yeah! You know what that says? That says, “The boys in apartment 235 like their free sodas and slurpees!”
Ah, America…where you can participate (or not) in government at an unprecedented level, get free drinks at will from a large corporation, and even get married by Elvis. If the founding fathers could see us now…
